I don’t always get to do the weekly challenges on SCS and I don’t know why when I do, I always try and combine them into 1 or 2 cards…but here is my latest submission:

Try a New Technique (TLC 128) – this was the first time I have done this challenge – Paper Tole Flowers I used that on my Card Sketch (SC135) and then used the colors from the Color Challenge (CC126) to do the whole thing. :o)

I got happy mail today! I received 2 super cute RAKS from my Stampin’ friends.

Rochelle Wick, list mom for ImpressionsbyRochelle sent me this sparkly Fishy Friends card that she made while on vacation.

Spa Party

My oldest daughter had her birthday a couple of weeks ago and we had a Spa Party. I set up stations for the girls to have manicures, pedicures, facials (complete with cucumbers for our eyes) and hair. I recruited my sisters and a couple of moms to come help, played soothing “spa” music and had little finger munchies (i.e. fruit & veggie trays, cucumber sandwiches & smoothies in large plastic martini glasses).

We then played a game where the girls had to team up, choose a “model” and design an outfit using newspaper, brown paper, foil & duck tape. It left QUITE a mess.

I made Invitations and goody bag items we made using Spabella from Stamping Bella and SU’s Bubble Queen set. I even used Spabella on the cake!

Love Our Pets

So I mentioned that we have 2 dogs and a bird. They are definitely part of the family, and with 2 kids you would think they are terrorized. The bird I don’t think likes it too much but the dogs are just glad for the attention and keep coming back for more. Yesterday the girls locked themselves in Kaylee’s messy bedroom with the camera and snapped these shots that I found later on…

This is Delilah the canary. She’s the one I don’t think is so hip on the girls. Apparently they let her out of her cage – she’s hard to catch when she gets out, she likes to land on things that are pretty high up (like the ceiling fan).

Kaylee inherited this bird from my aunt and uncle – she loves her. I’m not sure the feeling is mutual. :o)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

This is Tinkerbelle (Tink or Tinker) and Holley (Doodle). Sometimes I think they are smart about some things, but sometimes I think they are dumb as a box of rocks. Tinker is a 5 lb. Maltese and was a Santa gift a few years back. Holley is a 35 lb. pound puppy we saved almost two years ago, she is part Boxer, they are best friends.

Being only 5 lb. puts you at the mercy of an 8 year old girl. Apparently she looks good on a shelf, it looks pretty cozy too.

My scrapbooking saga…

I spent some time this weekend doing a little scrapbooking. Here is my scrapbooking saga…

I have two AVON boxes full of old pictures that I never did anything with. I’ve had these grand plans for years to scrapbook everything, but I just never made the time to do it. I had a friend about 7 years ago that sold Creative Memories, so I went to a party, got all excited and bought a bunch of stuff that sat in a drawer for 2 years. All I had to show for it was the double page spread I made at her party.

First Pages (assembled around 2000)

Then another friend invited me to a Stampin’ Up party, I got inspired all over again, spent some money and bought some more stuff for my ‘drawer’. Finally a couple of years later a lady at church invited me to another Stampin’ Up party. I guess the time was right, 3rd time was charm, whatever… Yes, I spent more money, but this time I hosted a party. I got a bunch of stuff free and was on my way. I even pulled the old stuff out of the drawer. I got so addicted, I signed up to be a demonstrator just to get the discount and “support my habit”.

I made some scrapbooks for friends and my sister for baby shower gifts but kind of slowed down on my own pages. Then I started getting more into making cards, and name frames, and candles, and notepads, and all kinds of crafty stuff. I make all of my own greeting cards now, have participated in some swaps and even have a monthly Stamp Club group that helps me stay active.

So anyway…I spent some time this weekend sorting through my boxes of old photos and making a few pages. I did some current pages, and some catch up pages of my older photos. I’ve gone from VERY basic (as you saw above), to elaborate with lots of embellishments and am trying to tone that down a little more and find my groove. I also recently read a book by Rebecca Cooper called Real. Life. Scrapbooking. (fabulous MUST read book) that has gotten me inspired to record more everyday stuff so others will know our ‘real life’ and not just our ‘events’.

Big Sister…Little Sister
This page is using some older photos when my youngest (who is now 8, almost 9) was first born. See how behind I am???

Toothless Grin
This one isn’t so old. I think it may be about a year or so ago…

Blue’s Clues
Another oldie….from 2001 (I don’t scrap in order either by the way…)

BFF
OK – this one is current. This is my DD Lauren and her best friend Brooke. They took these themselves just a couple of months ago and I just found them on my camera.

Snaggle Tooth
Another toothless grin page of Kaylee. This one I found as a card sketch and adapted it into my scrapbook.

On Safari
This is another batch of old photos I never did anything with. This is Lauren (now 11; then 2) and my niece Katy who is 2 weeks older than her.

So…that’s current. I’ll save some more stuff for future posts. Thanks for looking!

The Duster

My husband, Tommy has his own little money pit, Oh I mean “project” ~ The Duster. He bought this car a year ago last Spring and has spent the last several months completely tearing it down. Then he started fixing up some body work and has begun collecting parts so he can put the engine together. I don’t know a lot about cars, but he started out building a 440 that was too big to go in the engine compartment. He then started selling off those parts and began building a 340 instead. He has had “ants in his pants” about this for the last several weeks and finally got enough parts to put the bottom end together (whatever that means). Here are some photos of his progress…

BOTTOM END ALL PUT TOGETHER

He's so goofy - wonder what he needs to spend $$ on now...

** NEW **

So I’ve joined the bandwagon and am starting a blog. I haven’t really spent a lot of time on blogs, other than browsing a few photos, but I thought it might be a good way to share with family and friends.

OK so where to start…
It’s been a busy week but this weekend has been nice. We had nothing going on and were able to spend time together playing games as a family, the girls new favorite is Clue.
