Progress ~ Week 3

Hi there followers!  Happy Friday!

It's been kind of a busy week.  Last weekend I spent a lot of time with my boyfriend and all the kids, we watched movies and went to the park for a picnic.  On Saturday afternoon, I met up with some close girlfriends, Janice and Debbie, at Chuy's for drinks.  The company was great and there was lots of much needed girl talk and jokes, and of COURSE margaritas!!

I kind of had a lucrative week as well!

On Monday night I had nothing to do and came across a reminder email from a friend that attends a monthly Pokeeno night in her neighborhood.  I've gone with her a few times and decided 10 minutes before they started to go!  You bring $2 to play, that someone wins on the last hand of the night, and a $10 gift that someone wins with every hand.  I ended up winning 3 hands (gifts) that night.  The first gift I won was a reed diffuser that someone ended up stealing from me later on.  Luckily for me, there were 2 people that night that didn't have time to stop for a gift, so they just put $10 cash in an envelope.  (I keep a gift closet stocked specifically for these types of last minute needs!)  Anyway, my last 2 wins were late in the evening and I was able to steal the cash gifts from some other folks and no one ever stole them back, so I came home with $20!

Then on Tuesday, we had a girl coming into town for some vendor meetings for a project I'm working on at work.  So my boss decided we were doing some "team building" and took us to WinStar Casino! I took my $20 profit from the night before, plus $10 from my Entertainment envelope.  I put $10 in my first machine and lost $3, tried a second machine and lost $3 more. Then on my 3rd machine (Spy Girls) I ended up getting lucky and won $48!  I know it's a small amount, but it was $40 more than I started with!  I cashed that out after dinner and then played on my original $10 again the rest of the night and ended up going home with my original $30 plus that extra $40!  I immediately divied that up in my envelopes, Dave would be proud! ;)

I also officially started an FPU class and of course made my 2nd Pie of the Month!  So here are the details of my progress toward the 2014 goal list:

8. Be intentional ~ Working on it.  While I'm not 100% everyday on this, it's at least in the fore front of my mind most of the time and I'm making an effort.

11. Try a new recipe ~ Two this week :)  I found a new recipe for White Chicken Chili, I'd made it before but it had been from a mix.  This turned out kind of spicy and 15 didn't like it, but Jerry and 17 did.  Also, my Caramel Apple Pie was a new recipe to me.

12. Join my own 'Pie of the Month' club ~ Speaking of pie… yum!  January's menu is complete

13. Read 10 books ~ I finished Takedown Twenty and just started another Patterson novel.  Three down….seven to go.

24. Declutter my office ~ …does it count at all that it's on my To Do list?  It's been there all week….but yes I've been skipping over it.  Oh well, there's always next week…

25. Follow a budget ~ Ok it's probably too early to celebrate, but I'm kind of proud of myself on this one this week.  I already told you I was using my envelopes, and started the class.  I also have not eaten out at all this week, nor gone over in any category.  PLUS, I really wanted to stop for a pedicure yesterday, but talked myself out of it since I hadn't budgeted for it this week.  I have to admit, it was kind of a heated argument, but I did my own pedicure today….I still have to paint, but can we say "Self Control"?!

36. Blog regularly ~ Well….3 weeks into the year and I've at least touched it every week, keeping you posted ;)

40. Go to a Rangers game ~ No of course this hasn't happened yet, but I did pay the balance in full on my season ticket package for 2014!  Woohoo!  Spring Training starts in 30 days!!!

Have a great weekend!  Talk to ya soon!
